Name
The Power of Literature to Change Minds
with Deborah Ahenkorah
Description
The Museum’s fifth annual lecture celebrates the world-shaping stories of Africa as we welcome to our stage Deborah Ahenkorah, a Ghanaian educator and activist – and a finalist for the 2019 Global Pluralism Award, which recognizes pluralism in action.
Join us for an inspiring afternoon as Ahenkorah, co-founder and CEO of Golden Baobab, a social enterprise that aims to promote African literature for children, talks about her groundbreaking work making space for African stories to be told and read. She’ll share insights from her experience supporting African writers and illustrators and publishing children’s books from across the African continent. She’ll touch on the connections between children’s books and a host of issues, especially literacy, diversity, and representation. And she’ll show us the power of books to change minds.
