Name

Persian Art in Canada:
Early Collections and Exhibitions
with Bita Pourvash

Description

In nineteenth and early twentieth century, museums and collections in Canada faced the need to further diversify their collections with arts and artefacts from various cultures and civilizations. Examples from the arts of Iran, along with other countries, were collected and exhibited in these museums as well as private collections. This lecture discusses the formation of some of the early collections of Persian Art in Canada; including the collections of the Royal Ontario Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
