Islamic Architecture: Past to Present
Description
The mosque, the palace, the bazaar: just some of the architectural treasures of the Islamic world that will be explored in this six-week course. Delve into building types and places you may have experienced yourself but want to learn more about – or may have yet to add to your bucket list of wonders worth seeing. Over the six evenings, the course will progress from structures built during the early Islamic period to the newest constructions happening today, outlining along the way the basic features of each building type. Every class, we’ll examine a different featured architect – from Sinan the Great to Zaha Hadid – and take a stroll in the galleries to look at related objects.
