VIRTUAL - Classic Abbasid Kufi Taster Workshop

Description

Join Joumana Madlej in an introductory workshop on classic Abbasid Kufi calligraphy. Outlining a practical introduction to Manuscript Kufi, this session will start by discussing the rise of this first great Qur'anic script and the materials historically used for it. Spend time learning and practicing the isolated letterforms with ink and pen, based on the highest form of this style. Templates and letter charts will be provided so participants can continue practicing after the workshop.

For the best experience, use a metal or bamboo straight-cut dip pen and ink between four and six millimetres. Markers can also be used however they don’t allow the same control or stroke definition.
